okay, so i probably won't be RUNNING anytime soon, but if homer can do it, then eventually i'll be able to do it, too. i love this quote, though, because anyone who even finishes a race has accomplished something fantastic and should be very proud of that accomplishment.
your challenge: find a race that is within your skill level and set a goal to compete in that race sometime this year. me? i am going to participate in the 4th of july 5k fun run. so, i've got 10 months to be able to walk/jog/run a little over 3 miles without dying. hopefully, i'll be able to finish...i haven't entered a 5k since i was 9 years old. oh dear.

You know how I feel about running. It's dumb.
Kristina,
That's how I feel about it, too...but my big gut is getting out of control, so I have to do SOMETHING! I can't really run, though...so walking it will be. :/
I signed up for a 1/2 marathon on October 16th in Kansas City. I only decided 2 weeks ago that it needed to be done. Honestly, that quote truly says it all. I was so down on myself after my last race. Because I was comparing myself with my running girls. Not this time. This time it's only for me. I've recently realized that speed is not on my side, so it's going to have to be endurance. That has actually made ALL the difference in training. Slow and steady wins the race. Or, at least finishes the race happy. You can totally do a 5k! Have you seen the program that's called "from couch to 5k" or something like that? You are already past the couch phase......
Brien and I will be doing the Viva Bike Vegas 23 mile ride. His parents signed up for the 55 mile ride, but that seems to far for a beginner, and I'm definitely a beginner.
I forgot to mention, it's the 2nd weekend in October 2010.
